Industry is the backbone of the European economy. It accounts for 80% of Europe’s exports and private innovations, and provides high-skilled jobs for citizens. Europe has a global competitive advantage on high value-added products and services. Innovation and competitiveness are therefore at the heart of the Commission’s agenda and, as the world stands on the brink of a new industrial revolution, the Commission is committed to supporting the transformation of EU industry.
